Collaborative Sense monitors the impact of products designed for developing countries to enable data-driven business models and revenue sources. Their first product is FUEL: an integrated sensor platform that measures the impact of clean cookstoves. Why monitor this? So effective programs can get more money and make a bigger impact. There are 2.5 million improved cookstoves in use in developing countries, in an attempt to alleviate the 4 million premature deaths per year due to traditional wood cookstoves, but the results of the impact is unknown. To keep getting good cookstoves out there to help these 3 billion people, need to prove health and environmental impacts and keep pulling in funding from donors. Current monitoring solutions are archaic or expensive and time consuming.
