Specializing in innovations by the Hatfield Marine Science Center, and the Colleges of Agricultural Sciences; Engineering; Forestry; and Earth, Ocean, & Atmospheric Sciences; including copyrights campus-wide, regarding software and other content-related works. 

Denis is responsible for managing a portfolio of intellectual property assets in various Colleges at OSU. From plant varieties, to engineering and oceanographic equipment , to software and hardware, to leveraging copyrighted materials, he manages the process from early stage to the commercial stage. He has experience in moving research out of the University, by identifying opportunities and negotiating agreements with industry and start-up companies. He works with faculty, staff, and students on understanding copyright and patent protection and ownership. He facilitates the filing of patents and trademarks with outside counsel, and collaboratively develops strategies to move technologies into the market. A Certified Licensing Professional, Denis understands the licensing process, he is also a member of the professional Association of University Technology Managers.

Before joining OCCD as licensing associate in 2006, Denis was a compliance administrator in the Research Office since 2002. He has business experience in sales and marketing, experience in natural resource management, and in the non-profit private sector, and is a Veteran of the US Coast Guard. He holds dual BS degrees in Marine Resource Science, and Communications, and a Master degree in Philosophy.
