John has more than thirty years of professional experience in developing novel technologies and successfully moving them to market.

After completion of doctoral studies in Physics at UC San Diego and postdoctoral work at UC Berkeley, John worked for 21 years at Hewlett-Packard Company in a variety of technical and management roles: as a research scientist at HP Labs, in new product development, and strategic supplier management. During this time he published more than 60 refereed articles in advanced materials, manufacturing and process control.  

More recently, as a member of the OSU College of Business Faculty, he has served as a thesis advisor to students pursuing MBA degrees with an emphasis in Technology Commercialization. In this role, he has assisted in the development of business plans for more than fifty technologies. John has also assisted in the launch of numerous startup companies, serving as a consultant on technology roadmap development, intellectual property management and new product development.

In 2013, John moved into his current role as Co-director of the OSU Advantage Accelerator. In collaboration with the OSU Office of Commercialization and Corporate Development, he is focused on engaging students, faculty, and community mentors in moving innovative concepts to market.
