Biochemistry and Biophysics, Honors College

Nicholas Pihl is a senior in Biochemistry and Biophysics, and is currently an intern in the Office for Commercialization and Corporate Development. Prior to his involvement at the OCCD, he worked for two years in an Oregon State biochemistry lab as an undergraduate researcher. During this time, he studied a highly invasive form of brain cancer known as glioblastoma multiforme. His coursework and lab work have given him a solid understanding of how life works at the cellular and molecular levels, and he hopes to apply this knowledge in the

Venture Internship Program. After graduating, Nicholas plans to attend medical school and to apply the skills learned in this internship to help offer better, more efficient medical care.

In his free time, Nicholas enjoys singing in the OSU Meistersingers Men’s Choir and is working on a music minor. He also loves to travel and explore. Last summer, he studied abroad in Ghana and especially enjoyed gaining insight to the new set of philosophies and culture attitudes the country had to offer, as well as sampling the local foods. His other interests include science fiction, playing tennis, reading, and volunteering.
