Biological and Mechanical Engineering, Honors College

Tyler is a senior in Biological Engineering with a minor in Chemistry who became interested in intellectual property and company development through coursework and on campus research positions. His primary areas of interest include medical device and drug development which originate from his five years of field experience as a firefighter/EMT. He is currently researching improvements in artificial lung designs at the Microproducts Breakthrough Institute as well as participating in the Venture Internship Program. He also has additional research experience developing unmanned aircraft system electronics and material biocompatibility.

Tyler plans to attend medical school following completion of his undergraduate degree. He hopes to focus on oncology and the practice of medicine in rural and underdeveloped areas. He is also considering going into law in the area of intellectual property and the VIP will help confirm this interest.
