OSU Faculty Innovator Award Summary

The Faculty Innovator Award, sponsored by OSU Advantage, honors an outstanding Oregon State University inventor who has made a contribution leading to commercialization that significantly impacts their field and society. The award is open to any current OSU faculty, emeritus or retired faculty who has submitted an invention disclosure through the Advantage Office and who are actively engaged with commercializing an OSU innovation.

Dr. Bahman Abbasi, Associate Professor of Mechanical and Energy Systems Engineering at Oregon State University, has been honored with the prestigious 2023 Faculty Innovator Award. This recognition celebrates his contributions to addressing critical global challenges, including supplying affordable clean water to communities worldwide and enhancing access to clean energy storage materials.

The nomination, which included a summary highlighting the significant impact of his invention on society, underscores Dr. Abbasi's leadership and remarkable achievements. Dr. Abbasi's innovations are changing water treatment technologies, offering solutions for water pollution from industrial processes and securing lithium resources for clean energy. Dr. Abbasi's leadership inspires the next generation of researchers, making him a deserving recipient of this award.
