Cooper is from Redondo Beach, CA, a suburb of Los Angeles. He joined the Advantage Accelerator in May of 2019 during his second year at Oregon State.  Cooper was really drawn to the opportunity at the Advantage Accelerator for a variety of reasons.  The emphasis on research really drew him because he conducts research for his club and in his free time.  He also takes great interest in creating reports and learning more about companies’ financing decisions.  And he really cares about contributing to something meaningful by helping young entrepreneurs make quality decisions to become successful in the future.  Cooper hopes that this opportunity at the OSU Advantage Accelerator will help him gain skills and knowledge that are necessary to earning certifications, such as a CFA or CFP, to enter the financial field.

Cooper is very involved not just at Oregon State, but with other independent organizations as well.  His favorite on-campus organization is Oregon State’s Finance Club, where he meets every Tuesday night to expand his analytical acumen and research abilities.  At this club, he has augmented his investment skills by examining technical indicators for stocks and compiling information from company financial statements onto Excel spreadsheets.  After using this information, he has used formulas and compared KPIs to determine the optimal investment decisions for share traders.  As a result of his work at the club, Cooper has recently been named Vice President of Administration.  He has also always possessed a strong desire to help others.  Cooper volunteered to be a part of the Junior Achievement program in the winter of 2019, where he taught financial skills and principles to young elementary-level students.  He plans on volunteering to teach the same skills and principles to homeless veterans at a Los Angeles LINC Housing facility in the summer of 2019.  And finally, he is continually searching for ways to expand his skill set.  For example, he aspires to become a member of the Oregon State Investment Group in the fall of 2019, where he wants to analyze stocks and recommend whether the group should buy, sell, or hold such equities.

Outside of academic and professional life, Cooper has a wide array of interests.  Among other things, Cooper likes reading about current events in politics and finance.  He frequently partakes in outdoor activities like swimming, walking, and hiking.  He also enjoys travel and has stepped foot in 36 of 50 U.S. states.  And he enjoys many sports as well, with baseball, football, and water polo being his favorites.
