Tom Nelson was hired in September of 2012 as the Economic Development Manager for the City of Corvallis/Benton County. He previously worked in the same capacity for the City of Sherwood. 

Tom spent 25 years in the private sector, working 22 years as a plant manager for Air Products & Chemicals, Inc, a Fortune 500 industrial gas manufacturer at its Millersburg location.

Tom served on the Albany City Council for 11 years, and worked part-time at the Linn Benton Community College SBDC as a business adviser and trainer. He also served as the Small Business Development Center Director at Chemeketa Community College for three years before being hired by the State of Oregon where he worked for seven years as a Finance Officer and Community Development Coordinator for the Oregon Economic and Community Development Department.

Tom has been in numerous leadership positions at the Oregon Economic Development Association, Association of Oregon Redevelopment Agencies, and the Portland-Vancouver Regional Partners for Economic Development. Tom and his wife, Kim, are both Rotarians and Tom recently held the position of Assistant Governor for Rotary District 5100. They have 2 grown children.

Tom is a graduate of both, Linn Benton Community College and Oregon State University, where he received his MBA. He is also a member of the OSU Alumni Association.
