The Innovation Advocates support you and your needs to access innovation and entrepreneurial resources both on and off campus. Whether your needs are entrepreneurial training, access to equipment or space, connections to funding, advisors or team members, the Innovation Advocates are here to help. 

Innovation Advocates program: This initiative comes from our work to support SP 4.0, Action 15, Strengthen our support system for innovation and entrepreneurship for faculty, students and staff and has led to fourteen recommendations which are being acted on by the Innovation Advocates. Innovation Advocates represent every college, some centers and institutes, the Research Office, the Foundation and the Alumni Association and are helping drive the adoption of fourteen recommendations.

Faculty Initiatives Overview

Initiatives supporting faculty and staff include:

  • Considering I&E in Promotion and Tenure guidelines and processes;
  • Transforming current physical infrastructure or investing in new physical infrastructure to support I&E across the OSU footprint;
  • Utilizing I&E in faculty and staff recruitment and retention;
  • Supporting: 
    • updates to the Conflict of Interest/Conflict of Commitment process to create better alignment of interests and commitment;
    • the creation of a seed fund for innovation development;
    • the reconfiguration the royalty distribution arrangement;
    • the creation an I&E fund raising pillar in OSU’s campaign;
    • strengthening our corporate partnerships across Oregon and beyond.

Student Initiatives Overview

Initiatives supporting students include:

  • Creating scholarships for students to pursue entrepreneurial activities;
  • Integrating I&E into curriculum;
  • Strengthening engagement in entrepreneurship clubs;
  • Engaging in high school entrepreneurship programs beyond STEM;
  • Utilizing I&E in student recruitment and retention;
  • Leveraging I&E programing for all students across OSU.
